The Emperor’s Corridor
In case you’re not familiar, the Emperor’s Corridor, also known as Císařská chodba, stands as one of the most enchanting segments within Prachov Rock City.
Its name traces back to Emperor Francis, the illustrious founder and leader of the Austrian Empire.
Legend has it that during a visit to the neighboring town of Jičín, the King of Hungary, Croatia, and Bohemia personally explored these rock formations.
As the story goes, two men carried the monarch in a sedan chair as they traversed this captivating passage. And thus, the Emperor’s Corridor earned its distinguished name.
The tourist season at the Prachov Rocks
The tourist season usually lasts from the 1st of April until the 31st of October. It is also possible to access it outside the season because the Prachov Rocks are open year-round.
However, be extra careful during the winter because the steps are icy. Visit during the tourist season for the best experience.
Opening times at the Prachov Rocks during the tourist season:
- From April until June and from September to October (weather permitting) from 9 am – 5 pm
- July and August between 8 am and 6 pm.

- For adults, the entrance fee is 100 CZK (equivalent to £3.70).
- Children, students, and individuals with disabilities enjoy a discounted rate of 50 CZK (approximately £1.80).
- If you plan to visit Prachov Rock City with your furry companion, please note that there’s an additional fee of 10 CZK (about £0.38) for your dog’s entry.
As for parking
The cost for a car or motorbike is a flat rate of 100 CZK (approximately £3.70) for the entire day. You have the convenience of paying for your tickets and parking with either cash or card.
Should you need access to an ATM, you’ll find one in the nearby town of Jičín, within places like Tesco or Kaufland.
