The villa functioned as both residence and experimental wind repository, where Stravinsky and his assistants recorded aeolian patterns, sand displacement rhythms, and atmospheric pressure oscillations, translating desert wind movement into indexed archival systems meant to preserve environmental “memory” of the shifting terrain.
His household included his wife Tatiana and his field assistant Karim Bek, both responsible for maintaining wind log cylinders, sand index charts, and desert atmospheric classification records.
The turning point came in 1908 when unprecedented desertification shifts altered long-stable wind corridors, causing complete breakdown in the predictability of aeolian data and rendering archival wind classification systems inconsistent across all recorded regions.
